An easy banana cake recipe using yogurt and no butter.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour ( maida )
- 3/4 cup mashed ripe bananas
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175 deg C.
- In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together egg, yogurt, mashed bananas, oil and vanilla.
- Pour over dry ingredients and stir gently until just blended.
- Transfer the batter to a greased 9-inch baking pan.
- Bake for around 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool cake on a wire rack.
- Easy banana cake with yogurt is ready to be served.

This cake is really delicious. Thank you so much for posting it!! I added a tiny bit of cinnamon and nutmeg the second time I made it as an experiment, and it was good like that too.
Do you happen to know, if I were to use a bundt pan, would I have to change the baking time? Also, would this recipe work well for muffins, and if so, how would I adjust the baking time?

Thanks for your feedback! I have not tried using a bundt pan or as muffins. So not sure about the baking time that will be needed.

Thanks for the recipe! The only change I made was to reduce the sugar to 1/4 cup since I didn’t want it too sweet for my toddler. The cake turned out just perfect – wonderfully soft, still sweet enough from the ripe bananas, and absolutely delicious! I will definitely be making this again and again 🙂
