Banana Yogurt Cake | Easy Butterless Banana Cake

Banana yogurt cake is a simple and easy soft butterless banana cake recipe with yogurt. I bought some ripe bananas just to make this cake.

The smell of banana cake baking is simply amazing and I can’t wait to devour a slice or two once it is out of the oven.

Baking a banana cake is a great way to make use of overripe sweet bananas that you have sitting in your fruit bowl. This cake is low-fat and is soft and absolutely delicious. It is perfect to have with a steaming cup of tea or coffee.

An easy banana cake recipe using yogurt and no butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour ( maida )
  • 3/4 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175 deg C.
  2. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together egg, yogurt, mashed bananas, oil and vanilla.
  4. Pour over dry ingredients and stir gently until just blended.
  5. Transfer the batter to a greased 9-inch baking pan.
  6. Bake for around 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool cake on a wire rack.
  8. Easy banana cake with yogurt is ready to be served.

    This cake is really delicious. Thank you so much for posting it!! I added a tiny bit of cinnamon and nutmeg the second time I made it as an experiment, and it was good like that too.

    Do you happen to know, if I were to use a bundt pan, would I have to change the baking time? Also, would this recipe work well for muffins, and if so, how would I adjust the baking time?

      Thanks for your feedback! I have not tried using a bundt pan or as muffins. So not sure about the baking time that will be needed.

    Thanks for the recipe! The only change I made was to reduce the sugar to 1/4 cup since I didn’t want it too sweet for my toddler. The cake turned out just perfect – wonderfully soft, still sweet enough from the ripe bananas, and absolutely delicious! I will definitely be making this again and again 🙂

    I just made this cake I added a middle layer of brown sugar, cinnamon, five spice and walnuts !
