This recipe is an Andhra style spicy garlic chutney. I guess the word spicy is an understatement. It is a fiery hot chutney and full of flavor. It tastes awesome with dosa or idli.
It’s an easy chutney to prepare and it can be stored for upto a week.

A dry spicy garlicky chutney
Ingredients
- 5 large garlic cloves
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- A pinch of asafoetida
- Salt to taste
- 4 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Peel the garlic and crush them coarsely. I used a mortar and pestle.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and asafoetida.
- When the mustard seeds splutter, add crushed garlic.
- Fry till the raw smell of garlic goes.
- Now add salt and red chilli powder.
- Keep frying this for around 20 minutes on medium heat so that the garlic is infused with the masala.
- Switch off the stove and serve this chutney with dosas or idlis.
- You can store this chutney for upto a week.
