Baking Tip : How to soften homemade cookies that turn out hard when kept to cool
Have you ever faced this situation. You’ve baked a fresh batch of cookies. They look delicious when you remove them hot from the oven. But once you cool them, they turn out hard. You may wonder if all your effort was going to a waste because the cookies did look mouth – watering.
There is a simple solution for this problem. Place the cookies inside an air-tight plastic storage container. Then layer a few soft and fresh slices of bread on top of the cookies. Close the container and let this be kept overnight.
The next day, when you open the container and remove the bread slices, you will find that the cookies have turned soft because they have absorbed all the moisture from the bread. The bread slices will be stale and hard and you need to discard them.
If the cookies are still not soft enough, you will need to repeat the whole process with a few more slices of fresh bread. Once the cookies soften, make sure that you seal the container in which you store the cookies, otherwise they will again turn hard.
