Kesar Badam Milk / Almond Saffron Milk

Kesar badam milk is a popular Indian drink that has the goodness of almonds and a beautiful golden yellow hue imparted from saffron. Kids will love this healthy and aromatic drink.

There are many ready made mixes available in the market but you could make it fresh at home. In the cold winter days, you could have this drink steaming hot while in the hot summer days, you could serve it chilled and both ways it will taste good.

Almonds are a rich source of Vitamin E and have a high protein content. They are also rich in dietary fiber and monounsaturated fat which is one of the two fats which is believed to potentially lower LDL cholesterol.

A delicious drink using almonds and saffron with milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 10 – 12 almonds / badam
  • 7 – 8 saffron strands
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar / as per taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the almonds in hot water for around 20 minutes. Peel the skin of the almonds and keep aside.
  2. Meanwhile soak saffron strands in around 2 tbsp of hot milk for around 1/2 hour.
  3. Grind the peeled almonds to a smooth paste along with 1/2 cup milk.
  4. Heat the remaining milk with sugar and cardamom powder. When it is warm, add the almond milk along with saffron soaked milk and mix well.
  5. Serve kesar badam milk hot or cold.
