Rava Ladoo | Sooji Ladoo

by Jiya Jesh · Updated on July 15, 2022 Sweets / Desserts

Rava Ladoo is one of the easiest sweets to prepare. This quick dessert recipe uses rava / semolina and ghee and is sweetened with sugar. This is one of the favourite sweets prepared during festivals in South India.

There are different versions for rava ladoo preparation. One of the versions is the addition of milk. But the version I prepared is one without milk added to it.

I was not able to make perfect round ladoos but anyway they taste good! These taste very delicious and let me assure that they will be finished off in no time!

Rava ladoo – a quick and easy Indian sweet using semolina.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rava / sooji / semolina
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • Around 1/4 cup ghee ( clarified butter )
  • 10 cashew nuts

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the rava till the raw smell goes. Ensure that the color of the rava does not change.
  2. Powder the rava and keep aside.
  3. Now powder the sugar also. You could increase the quantity of sugar to around 1 cup if you want the ladoos more sweeter.
  4. Break the cashews into pieces and roast them in around 1 tsp ghee.
  5. Mix powdered rava, powdered sugar and roasted cashews.
  6. At this stage you could also add cardamom seed powder / elakka to give more flavor to the ladoos.
  7. In a kadai, heat the ghee till it gets melted.
  8. Add the melted ghee little by little to the rava mixture and mix well. Ensure that you dont add the whole amount of ghee at once and only add it little by little. The ladoo may take lesser amount of ghee.
  9. Make small balls out of the ladoo using the palm of your hand. Allow it to cool.
  10. Once it cools, the ladoos are ready to be served or store in an air-tight container.

Notes

  • Make sure you don’t overroast the rava.
