Banana Halwa

In India, we have a variety of sweets available and in Kerala, they prepare a variety of halwas with fruits and dry fruits. I decided to make the banana halwa with some bananas which were fully ripe. It tastes very good.

a delicious dessert using ripe bananas and ghee.

Ingredients

  • 5 small ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 5 tsp ghee
  • A few cashew nuts for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Mash the bananas.
  2. Heat a non-stick pan and heat around 5 tsp ghee.
  3. Add the mashed bananas and fry this for about 15 minutes, making sure that you keep stirring the mixture frequently.
  4. Add the sugar and keep stirring frequently. Cook this for about 30 minutes till the mixture changes to brown color.
  5. If you feel that the mixture is sticking to the pan, you could 2 or 3 tsp of ghee to it while stirring.
  6. Grease a plate with ghee. Pour the mixture on the plate. Garnish with cashew nuts.
  7. Let the mixture cool, then cut it into squares or any desired shape and serve.
