I finished the soda and wondered what to do with the plastic bottle. Yeah, I didn’t want to throw it away! So the next thing I did was to think of a diy craft project that would help me reuse / re-purpose the empty plastic soda bottle. Its a very simple craft and the finished product can be used to organize your craft scissors for storage.
For another equally easy craft do check out recycled soda can pen holder.
Kids can be involved in the embellishment part of this project. Then they could use it as a pen / pencil holder, as a desk organizer to store their stationary supplies.
The materials required for this project are very simple. You need an empty plastic bottle – either a soda can or a water bottle, a utility knife, scissors, glue stick, some yarn and a button for embellishment.
Using a utility knife, make a small cut on the bottom half of the plastic soda bottle, and using scissors cut the bottle. Be careful while doing this. Kids should take the help of their parents to do this part.
Wash the cut out bottom half of the bottle thoroughly and dry it.
Now for the fun part, take one end of the woolen yarn, stick it at the bottom end of the cut bottle. Then keep winding it around the bottle, making sure that you don’t leave any gap.
Once you reach the top part, again stick the end of the yarn to the bottle.
Use any color yarn you like or you could even use two or three colors of yarns to make it more colorful.
I used pink yarn and stuck a simple button at the center.
You could use a flower or two small buttons of different colors for embellishment.
Now your organizer is ready.
I have used it as a crafts scissors holder but you could use it organize almost anything else you want.
What do you do with the top portion of the bottle that you have cut out? You can use it as a funnel!
Hope you enjoyed this easy craft and will try it out soon!
