Paneer capsicum bhurji is a delicious Indian breakfast dish of scrambled cottage cheese with bell peppers.
Its after a long time that I prepared homemade paneer. Fresh homemade paneer is soft and can be easily crumbled.
With freshly crumbled paneer before me, the first easiest and quickest crumbled paneer recipe that came to my mind was paneer bhurji. I decided to go ahead with this recipe but with a slight variation that resulted in this yummy paneer capsicum bhurji recipe.
The crunchy capsicum with the soft paneer makes for a lovely combination! I served this delicious protein rich paneer sabzi with rotis for dinner.
You can go ahead and serve it with chapatis or parathas or as a side dish for rice. If you have the store bought paneer, then just grate it and prepare this dish. Now on to the recipe for tasty paneer capsicum bhurji.

Paneer Capsicum Bhurji recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup crumbled ( or grated paneer )
- 1 large green capsicum ( shimla mirch / bell pepper )
- 2 green chillies
- 1 onion, medium-sized
- 1 tomato, large
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Chop onion, tomato, capsicum and green chillies finely.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions.
- Saute till onions turn translucent.
- Now add chopped capsicum and fry for 2 minutes on low flame. The capsicum should be crunchy.
- Add chopped tomatoes along with salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder.
- Fry for a minute. Add crumbled paneer and mix well.
- Let this cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring at regular intervals.
- Finally sprinkle garam masala powder, give a good stir.
- Paneer capsicum bhurji is now ready to be served hot with rotis or rice. Enjoy!
