An Andhra style snake gourd yogurt chutney recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups chopped snake gourd ( podalangai / padwal / potlakaya )
- 2 cups yogurt ( dahi / curd / thayir )
- 3 green chillies slit
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds ( jeera )
- 1 tsp broken urad dal
- A few curry leaves
- Coriander leaves for garnishing
- 1 tsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Peel the skin of snake gourd and remove the seeds. Chop snake gourd into small pieces.
- Cook the chopped snake gourd along with salt in little water till they turn soft.
- Meanwhile, beat yogurt till it is smooth.
- Heat oil in a pan or kadai. Add mustard seeds.
- Once mustard seeds splutter, add cumin seeds and broken urad dal.
- When dal turns brown, add curry leaves and slit green chillies.
- Saute for a couple of seconds and then add the cooked snake gourd pieces.
- Fry for a minute and remove from heat.
- Once it cools down, add the yogurt to the prepared mixture and mix well.
- Check for salt and add little more if required.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and potlakaya perugu pachadi is ready to be served.
