Keerai poriyal – a healthy greens stir fry recipe flavored with coconut.

Ingredients
- 1 bunch keerai
- 1 small onion
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 dry red chillies
- 1/2 tsp urad dal
- 1/2 tsp chana dal
- 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
- 2 tbsp grated coconut
- A pinch of asafoetida
- A few curry leaves
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Wash the greens well and chop them.
- In a pan heat about 2 tsp oil. Add mustard seeds, dry red chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida.
- When mustard crackles, add urad dal and chana dal.
- Add chopped garlic and chopped onions and saute till they turn translucent.
- Now add the chopped greens along with salt and black pepper powder, adding a little water.
- Fry until the greens are cooked and become dry.
- Finally add the grated coconut and mix well for a few minutes.
- Remove from heat and keerai poriyal is ready to be served as a side dish for rice or rotis.
